System of start of the engine - the general information and precautionary measures

General information

The only problem of system of start of the engine is ensuring rotation of the engine with a speed sufficient for start.

The system of start consists of a starter, the rechargeable battery, the switch of ignition, the relay and conducting. The involving relay is on the starter case.

The starter represents the electric motor of a direct current with the mixed excitement with the electromagnetic traction relay. The starter consists of the case or the stator with windings of excitement, an anchor with the obgonny coupling, covers with brush holders and the traction relay.

At inclusion of a starter through a winding of the traction relay of a starter current from the rechargeable battery begins to proceed. The anchor of the relay is involved and contacts of the relay become isolated. At the same time the relay anchor via the lever moves the obgonny coupling with a gear wheel. The nave of the obgonny coupling turns on screw vents of a shaft of an anchor of a starter and turns as well a gear wheel that facilitates input it in gearing with a gear wreath of a flywheel. Through the closed contacts of the traction relay there is a current feeding windings of the stator and anchors and the anchor of a starter begins to rotate together with a nave and the obgonny coupling.

After start of the engine the frequency of rotation of a gear wheel exceeds the frequency of rotation of an anchor of a starter. In this case the obgonny coupling is freely turned, and the torque is not transferred from an engine flywheel to a starter anchor shaft. After an ignition key otpuskaniye the power-supply circuit of windings of the traction relay via the switch of ignition is disconnected, the anchor of the traction relay is wrung out by a spring in a starting position, contacts of the relay are disconnected and the gear wheel of the drive leaves gearing with a gear wreath of a flywheel.

The starter with the involving relay is located parallel to a bent shaft of the engine and fixed on the transmission.

The starter joins, only if the AT selector is in the provision of P or N.
If the car is in the protection mode, the starter will not be turned.

Precautionary measures

When carrying out any works with system of start of the engine observe the following requirements.

a) You do not hold a starter included in a long time. It can overheat and fail. Do not include a starter more than for 15 seconds, and before repeated inclusion wait about two minutes. If you turn start a long time, and the engine is not started, not burned down fuel gathers in the converter. It can lead to an overheat of a working surface of the converter after start of the engine.
b) The starter is connected directly to the battery and at the inaccurate address can light up or cause short circuit.
c) Before works always disconnect a weight cable from the battery.
